Up until recently I’ve always painted my RC cars using spray cans, but I’ve just started to experiment with airbrushing since I inherited a basic Badger Airbrush kit from my late Grandfather. An essential part of airbrushing, besides the airbrush itself is of course the paint, and for general RC use you can’t beat good quality acrylic based paints and lacquers. Acrylics give durable finishes on both Lexan/Polycarbonate shells, and on hard plastic ABS bodies.
Enter Acrylicos Vallejo. Whilst on the hunt for some suitable acrylics, and especially ones that are perhaps a little more economical than the Tamiya Acrylic pots I’ve used in the past, I stumbled across Acrylicos Vallejo’s paints in an advertisement in RC Racer magazine that I currently write a column for via my RC Know How website.
AV Premium paints are a safe, water-based, non-toxic and highly versatile airbrush ready acrylic paint, suitable for a wide variety of applications, but especially formulated for superior adhesion to metals, fibreglass, polyethylene, clear Lexan Polycarbonate, ABS slot car and RC Car bodies, plus all manner of tuning and automotive applications.
The range of colours is pretty vast too with 20 bright opaque colours, 23 metallics and fluorescents, and 9 shimmering transparent Candy Colours.
